NOTICE OF PUBLIC OPEN HOUSE
PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the City of Pasco Historic Preservation
Commission will be holding an open house to discuss the crafting of a Historic
Preservation Plan for the City of Pasco.
The open house will include a discussion of the issues in developing a Historic
Preservation Plan, a brief overview of the planning process, and an opportunity
for the public to participate in identifying historic preservation priorities for the
City.
The open house will be held in the City Council Chambers, Pasco City Hall
located at 525 North 3rd Avenue at the hour of 6:00 p.m., Wednesday June 26,
2013.

Attendees are given an informational handout describing the process and a package of 6 red dots.
They walk around the room looking at 3-4 different stations. At each station there's information
about the topic, as well as a large flipchart describing the questions. Attendees "vote"with their
dots on what they think are the two highest priorities in each area.
• Station 1: What's working best in historic preservation in Pasco
• There's an awareness of the importance of historic buildings.
• We have good protection and preservation of historic buildings.
• There are adequate education, promotion and outreach efforts.
• There are enough incentives for commercial buildings.
• There are good partnerships between organizations,
• Station 2: What are the most pressing needs for historic preservation
• Need a Pasco register of historic places to locally recognize historic buildings.
• Need more incentives for protection and preservation of historic houses.
• Need to do more research to identify more historic buildings or districts.
• Need more education, promotion and outreach efforts.
• Need more development opportunities and incentives for commercial buildings.
• Station 3: What are the highest priority partnership opportunities that historic
preservation should cultivate in Pasco
• Partnerships with heritage organizations and museums.
