MINUTES
April 4, 2013
CALL TO ORDER:
The meeting was called to order at 5:32 p.m. by Abigail Kidd, Chairperson.

MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING:
Edmon moved to approve the minutes of the February 7, 2013 meeting. Tom seconded. Motion
carried unanimously.
STAFF REPORTS:
Recreation
• First Annual Quinceanera Expo had over 400 people in attendance with great reviews
from vendors and patrons.
• Volunteer Reception is Thursday April 18 at the Pasco Senior Center.
• The Summer Recreation Guide comes out on April 9th; registration begins April 16th.
• We have 14 Tournaments already scheduled for the Pasco Softball Complex off of Rd.
68. Since March, we have already hosted a few tournaments.
• We will once again be involved with the Dia De Los Ninos program that the library hosts
at Memorial Park on April 27.
• Staff assisted the Tri -City Herald in hosting the Media Classic at Pasco High School on
March 17. Every year this event rotates from Pasco to Yakima. The varsity boys and
girls all -star basketball teams from Yakima and the Tri- Cities compete.
• Staff is in the process of hiring for summer including lifeguards, instructor guards, pool
managers etc.
• New programs for summer: Paddleboarding, Basin Wood Carvers, Teen Sewing with
March class, Basketball Officiating Training Program, FREE - Senior Technology Series —
Cell phone 101, E -mail Basics, Facebook Made Simple, Smart Phone Basics, etc.
Senior Center
• Federal funding cuts affected the ALTC Foot Care program at the Senior Center and now
every person interested in foot care has to go through a series of medical questions to
see if they qualify for the program. This change happened very quickly and staff worked
extremely hard to get the changes and evaluations started.
• The posters for the Annual All Senior Picnic are out; it is scheduled for Sept 19 at TRAC.
• The Spring Bazaar is coming up on April 20 at the Pasco Senior Center.
Maintenance
Personnel Activity
• Attended Monthly Safety Meetings
• Pesticide Seminar with the Army Corps
• Central Control System training
Park & Facility Projects
• Burned tumbleweeds
• Repaired fence at Liberty Park due to wind storm
• Repaired netting at 36 Soccer due to wind storm
• Built picnic tables
• Installed picnic tables in the parks
• Installed shade cloth at Softball Complex
• Opened Restrooms for the season
• Installed swings for the season
• Turned water on at the Dust Devils Stadium
• Moved office furniture for Finance and City Clerk
• Installed insulation in the offices at PW
• Irrigation repairs: 2 mainline
Cemetery
• Prepared new Urn Garden area
• Started irrigation
• Cleaned beds for season
• Preformed 5 funerals; 4 burials and 1 cremation
• Completed 1 pre -need contract, installed 5 stones
Special Events
• Contractor replaced door in evidence room
• Eagle Scout installed new bird identification board at Chiawana Park (eastside)
• Hosted 2 Men's softball tournaments, 1 baseball tournament and PHS games
OTHER:
Memorial Park Playground:
Goal is to complete this project by July 4th.
Rd 60 /Sandifur School:
Pasco School District will begin planning in 2013 and build in 2014. City will be building a
neighborhood park along with the school.
Impact Fees /Park Districts:
Planning Commission will consider the impact fees this month.
Aquatics Center:
Discussed the Regional Public Facilities District plans. Board supports the project.
