MINUTES
August 2, 2012

Dotta, Facilities Services Manager.
The meeting was called to order at 5:30 p.m.
Joel moved to approve the minutes of the June 7, 2012 meeting. Tom seconded. Motion carried
unanimously.
STAFF REPORTS
Recreation
• Hosting the Championship Swim Meet for Recreation League today at Memorial pool.
There are 7 teams in attendance and approximately 1,000 people
• Aquatics numbers for 2012
• 292 people registered in Aquatics Programs including swim team, guard start, and
lifeguard training
• 367 people attended swim lessons at Kurtzman Pool
• 1,214 people attended swim lessons at Memorial Pool
• 178 people attended swim lessons at Richardson Pool
• New programs for the summer that we partnered with Pasco High Football were a great
success
• Bulldog Mighty Mites Football Camp — 27 participated
• Big Dog Football Clinic — 22 participated
• After School Program for the summer has been extremely busy! They have been on
multiple field trips to college campuses, memorial pool, library, etc
• The Fall Recreation Guide will be released on Tuesday, August 7. 1 bought copies for
everyone to see
Maintenance
Personnel Activity
• Attended Monthly Safety Meetings
• Staff had base line hearing test
Park & Facility Projects
• Removed tree on 4t" Ave
• Painted soccer fields
• Richardson Pool closed due to equipment failure
• Life Jacket loaner program started
• Shade structures installed at Memorial Pool
• Irrigation repairs: 4 mainline, 6 lateral, 12 valves
Cemetery
• Preformed 5 funerals; 4 burials and 1 cremations
• Completed 6 pre -need contracts and installed 8 headstones
• Prepared for Flag Day
Special Events
• Prepared Wade Park for Boat Races
• Assisted Recreation with 4t" of July parade and Fireworks show
Other
Peanuts Park Improvements:
MOTION: Mike moved to allow Lowe's to move forward with Peanut's Park project,
including shrub bed improvements and painting containers and the fountain. Edmond
seconded. Approved unanimously.
Council requested to see before and after photos of the project.
Combining Senior Services Advisory Committee with Parks and Recreation Advisory
Council.
Rick mentioned the possibly combining the two groups and Council would like to invite the
Senior Services Advisory Committee to the next meeting on September 6.
Kurtzman and Richardson Pool Study:
MOTION: Abigail moved to spend no additional money on Kurtzman and Richardson Pools
and that the neighborhoods should be involved in the transition process. Edmon seconded.
Approved unanimously.
