SUBJECT : USE OF VEHICLE SEAT BELTS ,
EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY , the following policy shall be effective :
1 . PURPOSE :
1 ) To reduce the possibility of the death of, or injury to , all
city personnel and passengers as a result of on -duty vehicle
accidents .
2 ) To establish a policy relating to the use of vehicle safety
belts by all city personnel .
3 ) To promote safety belt usage by the public by setting a good
example .
II . POLICY :
1 ) All city personnel operating or occupying a city vehicle or
• one used while performing official city business shall wear
safety belts ( lap and shoulder ) .
2 ) All city personnel and other authorized passengers will be
required to wear their safety belts while operating or riding
in a vehicle being used for city business . The driver of
the vehicle shall be responsible to ensure compliance with
this Administrative Order .
III . ENFORCEMENT :
11 It is the responsibility of each Department Head to inform
his / her employees of the Order and , where appropriate, establish
specific written departmental policy on this matter .
2 ) It is the responsibility of all management and supervisory
personnel to promote voluntary compliance with this Administrative
Order .
3 ) It is the responsibility of all management and supervisory
personnel to monitor and enforce this Administrative Order .
4 ) City personnel who are found to be in violation of this Administrative
Order ( without just cause or authorization ) will be subject
to appropriate disciplinary action .
