I. PURPOSE:
To improve customer service to visitors/customers of City Hall by permitting
visitors/customers to readily identify those employed at City Hall. Identification cards
also can be used by employees to verify City employment to others when performing
duties outside City Hall.
II. POLICY:
Photo identification cards are to be worn, face/ID information forward, during work
hours when on duty by those employees assigned to City Hall. They may be worn on a
city-provided lanyard or clip. Clipped identification cards are to be worn just below
shoulder level, but above the beltline, so that they may be easily read. No other items are
to be affixed to the identification cards/lanyard/clip. Photo identification cards are not to
be worn when off duty. With approval of the department director, employees providing
customer service may cover their surname on the identification cards.
Non-City Hall employees and Police Department employees will be provided photo
identification cards for use when conducting city business.
IIL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Employees are responsible for the safe keeping of their identification cards. If an
identification card is lost or stolen, please report this information to Human Resources as
soon as possible.
As property of the City of Pasco, the identification card must be relinquished upon
request of the City (manager, director, Human Resources, City Manager) and/or
termination. Unauthorized use or possession is strictly prohibited.
V. EXCEPTIONS:
Employees wearing City-provided uniforms with names stitched on them need not wear
Photo identification cards.
