SUBJECT: OUT OF TOWN TRAVEL .
Effective immediately , the following policy shall be implemented:
19 On any out of town automobile travel , employees shall desirably use
city vehicles , if available . If an employee , at his/her option, chooses
to use his/her own vehicle when a city vehicle is available , that
employee may be allowed to do so at department head discretion , but
will receive mileage reimbursement at the Council approved rate for one
way only .
In the event no city vehicle is available and the city employee is
mandated by department head order to use his/her own vehicle on an out
of town trip , that employee will be paid for both directions at the
standard Council approved mileage reimbursement rate .
2 . When using a city vehicle for out of town travel , only persons on official
business shall be permitted to travel in that vehicle . Employees from
other municipalities or governmental agencies may travel with city
employees as long as their travel is for official purposes .
