A RESOLUTION regarding the closure of Ainsworth Avenue for
construction of the Ainsworth Overpass Project.
WHEREAS, in August 1997, the City of Pasco and the Port of Pasco entered into a
Cooperative Action Agreement for the design and construction of the Ainsworth Overpass; and
WHEREAS, the right-of-way acquisition and the project design are complete; and
WHEREAS, the finances for the construction of the project are in place; and
WHEREAS, the Ainsworth Overpass Project is scheduled to be advertised for
construction in September 2005; and
WHEREAS, the project design consultant, Anderson and Perry, recommends the closure
of Ainsworth Avenue during construction to reduce costs by as much as 10% and construction
time by approximately two (2) months; and
WHEREAS, staff mailed 378 informational letters to the neighborhood adjacent to the
project and received back supportive comments for the closure of Ainsworth for a seven (7)
month period of time; and
WHEREAS, the proposal to close Ainsworth Avenue, which is also SR397, has been
approved by WSDOT; NOW THEREFORE,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PASCO, WASHINGTON, DO
RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
The Pasco City Council accepts the temporary closure of Ainsworth Avenue between 9th
Avenue and Gray Street for the duration of seven (7) months for construction of the Ainsworth
Overpass Project.
