HomeMy WebLinkAbout2854 Resolution RESOLUTION NO. -.q5 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF PASCO, WASHINGTON, ACCEPTING AND ADOPTING THE FRANKLIN COUNTY HAZARD MITIGATION PLAN. WHEREAS, the citizens, facilities, and personnel of the City of Pasco are vulnerable to human and economic costs resulting from natural and other disasters; and WHEREAS, the City Council recognizes the importance of reducing or eliminating those vulnerabilities for the overall welfare of the community; and WHEREAS, the City of Pasco has been an active participant in the Franklin County Hazard Mitigation Plan Task Force, establishing a comprehensive, coordinated planning process to eliminate or reduce those vulnerabilities; and WHEREAS, staff have identified, justified and prioritized projects and programs to mitigate City of Pasco vulnerability to potential disaster; and WHEREAS, those proposed projects and programs have been incorporated into the Franklin County Hazard Mitigation Plan, prepared for Franklin County communities, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PASCO, WASHINGTON: 1. Accepts and adopts the City of Pasco portions of the Franklin County Hazard Mitigation Plan; 2. The Pasco City Council hereby commits the City to participate and cooperate in the implementation of county-wide mitigation initiatives; 3. City staff are directed to pursue available funding opportunities for implementation of the proposals of the Hazard Mitigation Plan; 4. The City of Pasco will, upon receipt of such funding or other applicable resources, seek to implement the proposals contained in its portion of the plan; 5. The City of Pasco will continue to participate in the updating and expansion of the Franklin County Hazard Mitigation Plan; 6. The City of Pasco will further seek to encourage businesses, industries and community groups operating within and/or for the benefit of the City of Pasco to participate in updating and expanding the Franklin County Hazard Mitigation Plan.
