A RESOLUTION CONTRIBUTING FUNDS TO REBUILDING THE
PLAYGROUND OF DREAMS IN KENNEWICK.
WHEREAS, the presence of the Playground of Dreams at Columbia Park in Kennewick
has been enjoyed by many children residing throughout the cities of Richland, Kennewick and
Pasco alike; and
WHEREAS, the Playground of Dreams, built substantially through community
donations of labor and funds, was significantly damaged by recent arson; and
WHEREAS, the City of Kennewick's insurance coverage for the playground carries a
deductible of$100,000; and
WHEREAS, a variety of community groups have contributed funds to help cover the
deductible obligation, reflecting the wide-spread affection for and benefit from the Playground of
Dreams; and
WHEREAS, many Pasco children have benefited from the existence of the playground
at Columbia Park and will benefit in the future if such a unique recreational facility is rebuilt for
benefit of the region;NOW THEREFORE
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PASCO:
SECTION 1: That the City of Pasco hereby contributes $15,000 to the rebuilding of the
Playground of Dreams at Columbia Park in Kennewick with the expectation that Pasco residents
will continue to be afforded free use of the playground.
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Pasco this 2nd day of February 2004.
