HomeMy WebLinkAbout2638 Resolution RESOLUTION NO. 2638 A RESOLUTION urging the state legislature to authorize and approve funding for a detailed study of east-west passenger train service in Eastern Washington, including service to Pasco. WHEREAS, In 1999 the state legislature authorized a detailed study of east-west passenger train service in Eastern Washington, including service to Pasco; and WHEREAS, the legislature provided $1,500,000 for the study, but post I- 695, most of the funding was eliminated; and WHEREAS, The 2000 legislature approved $150,000 for a scaled-back version of the study; and WHEREAS, scaled-back version of the study was completed in 2001, finding that east-west rail service is feasible, but needs to be further evaluated in a comprehensive study; NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PASCO, WASHINGTON, DO RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. That the Pasco City Council hereby urges the 2002 state legislature to authorize and approve funding for a detailed study of east-west passenger train service in Eastern Washington, including service to Pasco.
