HomeMy WebLinkAbout2603 Resolution y b RESOLUTION NO. 2603 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF PASCO, WASHINGTON, PROVIDING FOR THE CONSTRUCTION AND ASSESSMENT OF SIDEWALK, CURB AND GUTTER IMPROVEMENTS ON WEST LEWIS STREET, PROVIDING IN PART ASSESSMENT OF THE COSTS OF SUCH IMPROVEMENTS; AND SETTING A PUBLIC HEARING. WHEREAS, the City is authorized, pursuant to RCW 35.68.010, to construct and repair sidewalks, curbs, and gutters necessary to provide for the public safety and conveyance; and WHEREAS, the City Council has determined the installation of sidewalks on West Lewis Street between 20th Avenue and 28"'Avenue is necessary to provide for the safe passage of pedestrians and motorists on West Lewis Street; and WHEREAS, the City has and been determined eligible to receive grant funds to pay for a portion of the costs incident to these improvements, however, such grant is insufficient to pay all of the costs for such improvements; and WHEREAS, the State law allows for the assessment of those portions of the expenses of such improvements against the abutting property owners, after public hearing; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PASCO, WASHINGTON, THAT: (1) That sidewalks, curbs and gutters shall be installed, reconstructed, or repaired as required to render a safe and functional walkway on both sides of West Lewis Street between 20th Avenue and 28 1h Avenue within the City of Pasco, Washington. That available grant funds shall be applied to the expense of such improvements, however, the excess costs of such improvement cost beyond the grant funds available, may be assessed against the abutting property owners on a linear front foot basis not to exceed $10.00 per linear foot of sidewalk, curb and gutter installed. (2) That a Public Hearing shall be held at 7:00 p.m., August 6, 2001, in the City Council Chambers at Pasco City Hall, located at 525 North 3`d, Pasco, Washington, at such time the City Council shall hear persons who appear for or against the improvements, determine whether it will or will not proceed with the improvements, and whether it will make any changes to the original plan, what changes shall be made, and the assumption of the cost of these improvements. Resolution- 1 � -r (3) Notice of this Public Hearing shall be given to each owner or reputed owner of the abutting property, and published according to law.
