HomeMy WebLinkAbout2426 Resolution RESOLUTION NO. 2426 A RESOLUTION creating the City of Pasco Census 2000 Complete Count Committee and appointing City of Pasco representatives. WHEREAS, the City of Pasco desires the most accurate count possible from the year 2000 Federal Census; and WHEREAS, the Federal Census in the past has typically under counted various segments of the community, specifically the Hispanic community, the homeless and migrant workers; and WHEREAS, the Census Bureau has recommended the City establish a committee of prominent citizens who are charged with developing strategies and publicizing the importance of participating in the year 2000 Census; NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PASCO, DO RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. There is hereby created the City of Pasco Census 2000 Complete Count Committee who will be charge with developing strategies and publicizing the importance that all residents participate in the year 2000 Census and to help census workers locate people who are typically under counted. Section 2. The Committee shall consist of thirteen (13) members to be appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the City Council. The committee shall select a chairperson from its membership. The Community Development Director or designee shall serve as Secretary for the Committee. Section 3. The Committee shall complete activities by June 30, 2000. The Community Development Department shall provide the necessary staff support for the Committee to conduct its business. PASSED by the City Council of the City of Pasco this 1st day of March, 1999.
