AN ORDINANCE reducing the membership of the Senior Services Advisory
Committee.
WHEREAS, the Senior Services Advisory Committee, established under Ordinance No.
3317, provided for a nine member committee to advise the City Council and effected staff
regarding programs and policies associated with services and facilities for senior citizens; and
WHEREAS, applications for appointment to the Senior Services Advisory Committee have
dramatically declined over the past three years, leaving the committee markedly deficient of
membership, quorum and consequential input; and
WHEREAS, in view of the declining number of applicants for the Senior Services Advisory
Committee and the existence of a strong private Senior Citizens Association, the City Council
finds the reduction of seats on the Senior Services Advisory Committee to be an appropriate
method to resolve the membership and quorum concerns associated with the committee while
assuring adequate opportunity for advice on matters affecting Pasco senior citizens, NOW,
THEREFORE,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PASCO, WASHINGTON, DO HEREBY
ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. That PMC 2.30.020 MEMBERSHIP be and the same hereby is amended to
read as follows:
2.30.020 MEMBERSHIP. The Senior Services Advisory Committee shall consist of
nine7E�V� voting members, eight -(;Ik of which shall be Pasco citizens at least 50 years of
age. These All members of the Senior Advisory Committee shall be appointed by the Mayor,
subject to confirmation by the City Council.- provided, however, the The President of the
Pasco/Franklin County Senior Citizens Association, by virtue of his/her office, shall
automatically be a voting member of the committee without appointment by the Mayo and shall
serve on the committee during the term of his/her tenure. (Ord. 3317 Sec. 1, 1998.)
Section 2. This ordinance shall take full force and effect five (5) days after approval,
passage and publication as required by law.
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Pasco, Washington and approved as
provided by law this 5th day of May 2008.
