V. Senior Center highlights and discussion
❖ Tax Aide continues to be offered at the Pasco Senior Center on Mondays form 9:00
a.m. to 12:00 noon. They have been very busy and are usually full by 10:00 a.m.
❖ A Valentines Dinner and Dance took place February 11th. There were sixty-five
people at the dinner and sixty-three at the dance
❖ A Free Sweethearts Prom sponsored by the Pasco High School Key club took place
February 14th. Eighty people attended.
❖ A new session of Yoga began February 17th and will run until March 26th.
❖ A new session of Sewing with Marcy Fink began February 23rd. It will run until
May 18th. Classes take place on Mondays from 12:30 - 3:30 p.m. This is a
special two session class for the price of one.
❖ A financial advisory hour and dessert social took place February 25th.
❖ New sessions of Enhance Fitness and Senior Stretch and Tone began March 2 nd
VI. Upcoming Events
❖ Another AARP Driver Safety class is being offered on March 11 & 12. Cost is $12
for AARP members and $14 for non-members.
❖ A St. Patrick's dance will be held March 11th from 7:30 - 10:30 p.m. Cost is $5
per person.
❖ A 50's Dance will be held at the Pasco Senior Center on Wednesday, March 18th
from 7:30 - 10:30 p.m. Cost is $5 per person.
❖ A presentation entitled "Medication Safety" will take place on March 24th starting
at 12:30 p.m. Dr. Katherine Anderson, PharmD will be here to speak and also to
answer your questions regarding this subject.
❖ A Financial Advisory Hour and Dessert Social will take place Thursday, March 26th
from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon.
❖ A new session of Drawing with Jerre Raven begins April 1St and runs until May 20th.
Cost is $43 for City of Pasco residents and $45.50 for non-residents.
❖ A brunch is being planned for Monday April 6th at the Pasco Senior Center. Cost is
$4.00 per person. Tickets are required and may be purchased at the front desk
until 5:00 p.m. on April 2nd
❖ Adult golf lessons will once again be offered this spring at Sun Willows. Cost for
the four lesson sessions is just $45 for City of Pasco residents and $50 for non-
residents. For session dates and times please inquire at the front desk.
❖ The next session of Yoga begins March 31St and runs until April 30th. Cost is $30
for City of Pasco residents and $35 for non-residents.
❖ The next sessions of Enhance Fitness and Senior Stretch and Tone will begin April
1St
❖ The Open House Lunch and Entertainment originally planned for May 4t".has been
postponed until Monday, August 3rd. The open house takes place from 11:00 a.m.
to 3:00 p.m. Lunch is at noon. There is no charge for the open house however
tickets are required for the lunch and must be purchased in advance. Cost is just
$4.00. Please purchase your tickets by 5:00 p.m. on July 30tH
❖ The Pasco Senior Center will once again hold a parking lot BBQ complete with
burgers, hotdogs and all the fixings. This will take place Monday, June 1, 2009 at
12:00 noon. Cost is $4.00 per person. Tickets are required and must be
purchased by Thursday, May 28, 2009.
❖ A kayak tour and dinner at Anthony's is being offered Friday, June 19th from 1:30
- 6:00 p.m. Cost is $49 for city of Pasco residents and $54 for non-residents.
Trip fee includes kayak, shuttle, equipment, guides and dinner. Registration
deadline is June 15t".
❖ Tour the Columbia Gorge. This trip is being planned for Friday, August 21St. You
will enjoy several great stops during the day including Stonehenge, Maryhill
Winery, Maryhill Museum, and finally a relaxing excursion on the Mt. Hood
Railroad. You will also enjoy a wonderful boxed lunch prepared by the Maryhill
staff. Finally we will be stopping at the Riverside Grill in Hoodriver for dinner (not
included in the ticket price). Trip fee includes Stonehenge, winery, museum and
railroad excursion. Cost is $92 for City of Pasco Residents and $99 for non-
residents. Adults ages 21 and over only please. Registration deadline is Friday,
July 17tH
❖ Seattle Mariners vs. Chicago White Sox - This exciting game takes place Thursday,
September 17t". We will depart from Pasco City Hall at 9:45 a.m. and return at
approximately 11:45 p.m. Cost is $59 for City of Pasco residents and $69 for non-
residents. Registration deadline is Friday, August 14tH
