V. Senior Center highlights and discussion
❖ "Stress Management for Seniors" presented by Jerry Swinnerton, a licensed
mental health counselor and social worker, took place September 15th. Five
people attended.
❖ The 16th Annual All Senior Picnic was held at Keewaydin Park in Kennewick (next
to the Kennewick Senior Center) on Thursday, September 17th. There were 970
tickets sold for this event. The 2010 senior picnic will be hosted by the City of
Pasco at TRAC. Vince Guerrero has already begun work on this event.
❖ The Benton Franklin Health Department conducted a Flu shot clinic at the Pasco
Senior Center on Tuesday, September 22nd from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Seven
hundred forty-six shots were given during that time.
❖ A new session of Sewing with Marcy
❖ A New sessions of Enhance Fitness began on October 1St and a new session of
Easy Does it Stretch and Tone began on October 5th
❖ Drawing with Jerre Raven began a new session on September 16th. This class
runs until November 41n
❖ A Financial Advisory Hour and Dessert Socials took place on September 24tH
❖ An AAPR Driver Safety Class is being offered October 14 & 15.
Upcoming Events
❖ Dental Hygiene services will be offered at the Pasco Senior Center on October 19,
November 23 and December 21. Services are performed by Marie McElderry,
RDH, BS of Oral Health Care. These services are performed at a reduced rate for
anyone over the age of 60. For more information or to make an appointment call
420-0884.
❖ A Chili Feed is planned for Monday, October 51h from 12:00 - 1:00 p.m. Tickets
are required and may be purchased for $4 per person at the Pasco Senior Center.
Tickets are available until 5:00 p.m. on October 1, 2009.
❖ Another AARP Driver Safety class will be offered October 14 & 15. Cost is $12 for
AARP members and $14 for non-members (proof of membership required)
❖ Sewing with Marcy will begin its fall session on September 21St with classes
continuing until December 14th. Classes are held on Mondays from 12:30 - 3:30
p.m. Sewers of all levels are welcomed. Cost is $25.50 for City of Pasco residents
and $27.50 for non-residents.
❖ Best of Broadway presents Disney's The Lion King, This trip takes place
Thursday November 12th. Cost is $129 for City of Pasco residents and $139 for
non residents (Orchestra seating, rows A - J). This fee includes transportation to
Spokane, dinner (and gratuity) at Anthony's Homeport Restaurant before the
production and the Broadway tickets. Registration deadline is October Stn
❖ Another Kayak Tour and Dinner at Anthony's will be held on Friday, September
18th. Paddle downstream from Leslie Groves Park to Columbia Point Park where
we will dock our Kayaks and enjoy a wonderful 4-course dinner at Anthony's Home
Port Restaurant. Directions and detailed itineraries will be given upon registration.
Trip fee includes kayak, shuttle, equipment, guides and dinner.
Time: 1:30 - 6:00 p.m. Cost: $49* / $54 Ages: Adults 18 years and over
Registration Deadline: Monday, September 14, 2009
❖ A Hawaiian dance will be held Wednesday, September 23rd from 7:30 - 9:30 p.m.
Cost is $5.00 per person. Refreshments will be served. Live music is provided by
the Columbia Basin Dance Band.
❖ A Pendleton Underground Tour And dinner is being offered Wednesday, October
14th from 11 :00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m. Cost is $99 for city of Pasco residents and $109
for non-residents.
❖ A Halloween party for children ages 12 and under will be held at the Pasco Senior
Center on Thursday, October 29th from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. Activities will include
Games, a costume and coloring contest. Prizes will be awarded and refreshments
will be served. ALL CHILDREN MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY AN ADULT. If
you would like to attend with your children, grand children or great grand children
please RSVP to 545-3459 by Monday, October 26th
