Tuesday October 14, 2008
The meeting was called to order at 10:00 am by Chairperson John Evans.
Members Present: Katie Barton, John Evans and Ron Van Nostrand.
Members absent: Linda Hendrickson-Patrick.
Tom Larsen was present representing the Pasco City Council.
Staff Present: Paul Whitemarsh and Marie Schiefelbein.
Minutes of the September 9, 2008 meeting were approved as written.
Marie Schiefelbein covered the ALTC program updates for the month of
September 2008.
Marie Schiefelbein covered the Senior Center Highlights and upcoming
events including:
❖ A new session of Sewing with Marcy began on September 15th. This class
will run until December 15th. There are eighteen people registered.
❖ The All Senior Picnic was held at Howard Amon Park in Richland on
September 18th. One-thousand one hundred seventy people attended.
❖ Ballroom and Latin Dance lessons continue to be offered by Etta Jamison
at the Pasco Senior Center. For more information call 545-3459.
❖ A new session of Yoga began September 16th and will run until October
23rd
❖ A Wildhorse Day trip took place September 16th. Sixteen people
attended.
❖ A Kayak tour and dinner at Anthon's took place September 19tH
❖ A new session of Drawing with Jerre Raven began September 24th and
will run until November 12th
❖ A Hawaiian dance was held September 24th with seventy-one people
attending.
❖ A Discover the Gorge trip took place September 28 to October 1.
❖ New session of Enhanced Fitness and Senior Stretch and Tone began
October 1St
❖ An AARP Driver Safety class will be offered October 7 & 8 from 9:00 a.m.
- 2:00 p.m. Cost is $10 per person.
❖ A Spaghetti Feed is planned for October 6th at 12:00 noon. Cost is $4.00
per person. Tickets are required and must be purchased by 5:00 p.m.
Thursday, October 2nd
❖ The Benton Franklin Health Department will be conducting a Flu Shot
clinic at the Pasco Senior Center October 14 - 16. Flu shot will be $25
each and Pneumonia shots will be $40 each. Both Adult and Pediatric
doses of the Flu vaccine will be available. Regular Medicare and Medicaid
billing is available. No other insurances will be billed. Please bring your
Medicare or Medicaid card with you. Shots will be given from 8:00 a.m.
to 5:00 p.m. each day.
❖ The next Wildhorse day trip will be October 21St. There are still seats
available on the bus. Cost is $12 per person. This will be the last trip of
the year.
❖ A new session of Yoga begins October 28th and will run until December
11th. The class meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Pasco Senior
Center from 5:30 - 6:30 p.m.
❖ A Financial Advisory Hour and Pie Social will be held October 30th from
11:00 .a.m. to 12:00 noon. No appointment is necessary.
❖ A Halloween Monster Mash dance will be held October 29th from 7:30 -
10:30 p.m. Cost is $5 per person.
❖ A Fall Dinner and Dance will be held November 12th. Turkey, dressing,
mashed potatoes, vegetables and a dessert will be served. Tickets are
required for the dinner ($5 per person) and can be purchased until 5:00
p.m. on November 7th. Dinner will be served at 5:30 p.m. with a dance
following at 7:30 p.m. Cost for the dance is $5 per person at the door.
❖ A new session of Drawing with Jerre Raven begins November 19th and
runs until January 28, 2009.
❖ Cruise Lake Chelan - Explore Stehekin. This trip is being offered
Saturday, October 18, 2008 from 5:45 am to 10 pm. We will leave from
the Pasco Senior Center parking lot and travel to Lake Chelan by
Chartered Tour Bus and Board the Lady Express for their Fall Excursion.
The Lady leaves the dock at 10 am and arrives in Stehekin at 12:30 pm.
We will have a one-hour layover where you are free to take a stroll
through the town of Stehekin or you can take the popular Rainbow Falls
Tour for an additional $7 per person. We will then board the Lady for our
trip back arriving at Chelan at 4 pm. Cost for this trip is $99 for City of
Pasco residents and $109 for non-residents. You may register at the
Pasco Senior Center, The Pasco Recreation Services office or on line at
www.pasco-wa.gov.
❖ A Halloween party is being planned for Thursday October 30th. This will
be an Intergenerational event with parents, grandparents and children
invited. More information will be available in the October issue of the
Senior Informer.
❖ A FREE Holiday dinner sponsored by the Pasco Yokes Fresh Market is
being planned for Thursday, December 11th. Reservations are required
and will be accepted beginning November 3 rd
❖ The Best of Broadway presents:
Ain't Misbehaving

Location: Spokane Opera House
Ages: Adult
Cost: 104*/$114 (Orchestra)
The registration deadline for this trip is February 19, 2009. *City of
Pasco residents pay the discounted price. You may register in person at
the Pasco Recreation Services office (525 S. 3rd), the Pasco Senior Center
(1315 N. 7th Ave.) or on line at www.pasco-wa.gov. For more

Old Business
❖ There was no old business discussed.
New Business
❖ The Pasco Fire department will be providing the Senior Citizens of Pasco
with free installation of 9 volt batteries for your smoke detectors. In
order to receive the free service, you must be a senior citizen residing
within the Pasco City limits. Services will be available from 9:00 a.m. to
4:00 p.m. November 3 - 7. To register please call 545-3459.
❖ The Pasco Senior Association is looking for an individual or individuals to
manage the Pasco Senior Center Gift Shop. You must be a people person
with a friendly, outgoing personality. If interested call 545-3459.
❖ Multi-purpose room floor refinishing.
❖ The Pasco Senior Center is closed on the second Tuesday in November.
It was decided not to hold a meeting in November.
❖ The 2010 All Senior Picnic will be held in Pasco. Vince Guerrero has
already begun work on this event.
With no further business the meeting was adjourned at 10:30 am. The next
meeting will be held Tuesday December 9, 2008 at 10:00 am. Chairperson
will be Katie Barton.
