IV. Senior Center highlights and discussion
❖ AARP Tax Aid continues to be offered on Mondays from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00
noon. Services are provided on a first-come-first-serve basis. Volunteers
have been very busy preparing returns for seniors filing to get their stimulus
rebate so please come early and be prepared to wait. You must bring all of
your information for 2007, your 2006 return (if you have one), a photo ID
and your social security card. AARP volunteers can not process your tax
return without your social security card.
❖ A St. Patrick's Day Dance took place on March 12th with 46 people attending
❖ A Financial Advisory Hour and Root Beer Float Social took place on March
27th
❖ March's birthday potluck was held on the 28th. Attendance counts are
unavailable at this time.
❖ Sewing with Marcy continues to be offered on Mondays from 12:30 - 3:30
p.m. The current session is a two for the price of one and will run until May
19th.
❖ The next session of Drawing with Jerre Raven began April 2nd and will run
until May 21St
❖ An Open House Lunch and Dance took place Monday, April 7th. Attendance
counts are not available at this time.
❖ Dorothy Graham was the winner of the February Roy's Western Smorgy
drawing. She received a meal for two at Roy's Western Smorgy.
V. Upcoming Events
❖ New sessions of Enhance Fitness and Senior Stretch and Tone begin May 2nd.
❖ A Pinochle Tournament and Potluck will take place on the 2nd Saturday of
each month at the Pasco Senior Center. The potluck will begin at 11 :00 a.m.
with pinochle play beginning at 12:00 noon. Cost is $8 for tournament play.
This fee covers prizes awarded.
❖ The next AARP Driver Safety class will be held on April 9th and 10th from 9:00
a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Cost is $10.00 per person. To register call 545-3459 or
stop by the front desk.
❖ The next Wildhorse day trip is scheduled for Tuesday, April 8th. Cost is $12
per person. You will receive a $10 coupon that can be used in the restaurant,
buffet, cafe or lounge (for food items only). Please register in person at the
Pasco Senior Center or call 545-3459 for more information.
❖ The next Birthday Potluck will be held on Friday, April 25th. An RSVP is
required by 4/22. Please bring a dish to share with others and your place
setting.
❖ Another Identity Theft presentation will take place Tuesday, April 29th from
10:30 - 11:30 a.m.
❖ Pendleton Underground Tour Comes To Life. This special once a year event is
being offered Saturday, May 17th from 1:00 - 8:30 p.m. Cost is $94 for City
of Pasco residents and $99 for non-residents. Registration deadline is
Tuesday, April 1St. You may register at the Pasco Senior Center, Pasco
Recreation Services office or on line at www.pasco-wa.gov.
❖ The 9th Annual Multi-Cultural Fair will be held at the Pasco Senior Center from
11a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 16th. Enjoy FREE admission, FREE
entertainment, FREE food and Door Prizes. There will also be lost of
information on senior services and plenty of entertainment included.
❖ A Parking Lot BBQ will be held Monday, June 2nd at 12 noon. We will be
serving hamburgers and hotdogs with all the fixings. Cost is $4 per person.
Tickets are required and must be purchased at the Pasco Senior Center by
Thursday, May 29th. Special guests from "Ye Old Car Club" will be here to
show off some of their classic cars.
❖ A Kayak Tour and Dinner at Anthony's will take place Friday, June 15th from
1:30 - 6:00 p.m. Cost is $49 for City of Pasco residents and $54 for non-
residents. Registration deadline is June 11th. Trip fee includes kayak, shuttle,
equipment, guides and dinner. You may register at the Pasco Senior Center,
Pasco Recreation Services office or on line at www.pasco-wa.gov.
❖ The Washington State Association of Senior Centers has obtained tickets for a
game between the Seattle Mariners and the Minnesota Twins on Wednesday,
August 27th beginning at 1:40 p.m. Seats are located on the 100 level
sections where every spot has a fantastic view. You must provide your own
transportation to and from the game. Tickets are $30 per person; $10 less
than regular ticket prices. To purchase tickets contact Vince Guerrero.
❖ The Washington State Association of Senior Centers is offering a trip to
Ireland beginning September 5, 2008. Fee is $3399 per person double or
$3959 per person single. For more information contact Vince Guerrero at
545-3459.
❖ Discover the Gorge! A trip through the beautiful Columbia Gorge is being
offered September 28 thru October 1, 2008. This is an all-inclusive excursion
that includes three nights at the Hood River Inn; Columbia Gorge
Sternwheeler; Historic Mount Hood Railroad featuring an authentic chuck
wagon lunch; Columbia River Gorge Discovery Center and the Western
Antique Automobile and Aeroplane Museum (WAAAM) featuring one of the
largest fully operational collections in the nation. There are also many option
activities available. Cost is $785 per person for single occupancy or $731 per
person for double occupancy. More information is available at the front desk
or call 545-3459. This trip is presented by the Washington State Association
of Senior Centers and True North Productions.
❖ Cruise Lake Chelan - Explore Stehekin. This trip is being offered Saturday,
October 18, 2008 from 5:45 am to 10 pm. We will leave from the Pasco
Senior Center parking lot and travel to Lake Chelan by Chartered Tour Bus
and Board the Lady Express for their Fall Excursion. The Lady leaves the
dock at 10 am and arrives in Stehekin at 12:30 pm. We will have a one-hour
layover where you are free to take a stroll through the town of Stehekin or
you can take the popular Rainbow Falls Tour for an additional $7 per person.
We will then board the Lady for our trip back arriving at Chelan at 4 pm. Cost
for this trip is $99 for City of Pasco residents and $109 for non-residents. You
may register at the Pasco Senior Center, The Pasco Recreation Services office
or on line at www.pasco-wa.gov.
