Call to order II. Approval of the October 14, 2008 meeting minutes. III. ALTC program updates for October and November 2008. IV. Senior Center highlights and discussion (October, November & December) ❖ 1186 people received their flu shots at the Pasco Senior Center October 14 - 16. ❖ A trip to Lake Chelan and Stehekin was held October 18th. Twenty-Nine people attended. ❖ The last Wildhorse day trip of 2008 was held on October 21St with twenty people attending. We will begin scheduling trips again in March 2009. ❖ A multi-generational Halloween party was held at the Pasco Senior Center on October 30th. Over 200 people (of all ages) attended. The party featured games, contests and lots of candy. ❖ The Pasco Senior Center and the Pasco Fire Department teamed up to provide senior citizens in Pasco with new batteries for their smoke detectors. Forty-three people took advantage of this free service which was performed November 3 - 7. ❖ AARP Driver Safety Classes were held on November 12 & 13 and again on December 3 & 4. The November class drew 20 participants and the December class had twenty-nine participants. Classes throughout the Tri-Cities have been filling quickly. ❖ A new session of Drawing with Jerre Raven began November 19th and will run until January 28tH ❖ The Pasco Senior Association held a fall dinner and dance on November 12tH Seventy-nine people attended the dinner and 58 people were at the dance. V. Upcoming Events ❖ A presentation by Doctors from the Pasco Vision clinic will take place December Stn from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. Topics of discussion will include dry eyes; cataracts; Diabetes and its affect on your eyes; glaucoma; Macular Degeneration and the role good nutrition and exercise plays in maintaining healthy eyes. There is no charge for this presentation. ❖ A FREE Holiday dinner sponsored by the Pasco Yokes Fresh Market is being planned for Thursday, December 11th. This event is full however we are taking names for a wait list. Cancellations will be filled as they are received. ❖ Breakfast with Santa will be held Saturday, December 13th from 8:30 - 10:30 a.m. Tickets are required and may be purchased until 5:00 p.m. on December 12tH Cost is $3.00 per person. Tickets are available at the Pasco Senior Center or at the Pasco Recreation Services office. ❖ Employees from the Franklin County PUD will be at the Pasco Senior Center on Tuesday, December 16th from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Information on energy conservation, residential rebate programs and much more will be available. All participants will receive a free box of compact fluorescent light bulbs (one box of 4 per household). ❖ A free dinner will be held December 17th at 5:30 p.m. To receive your free ticket you MUST attend the dance on 12/10. Those unable to attend this dance may purchase tickets for $3.00 per person at the front desk of the Pasco Senior Center on December 11th, 12th and 15th only. This event is sponsored by the Pasco Senior Association and Hillcrest Memorial. ❖ A semi-formal Christmas dance will be held November 20th from 7:30 - 10:30 p.m. Live music provided by the Columbia River Dance Band. ❖ The Pasco Senior Association will be holding its annual New Years Eve Ball on Wednesday, December 31St from 8:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. Tickets are $10.00 per person and may be purchased at the Wednesday night dances, at the front desk of the Pasco Senior Center or at the door on the evening of the event. Live music will be provided by the Columbia River Dance Band and refreshments will be served. ❖ An AARP Driver Safety class is scheduled for January 7 & 8, 2009 from 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Beginning January 1, 2009 the cost for these classes will be $12.00 for AARP members and $14.00 for non-members (must present proof of membership). ❖ Stars on Ice - "On the Edge" Tour. Travel to Spokane to watch Olympic and World Champions in the show founded and produced by skating icon Scott Hamilton! Sasha Cohen (Olympic Silver Medalist) is the star of this year's show, and she is joined by Todd Eldredge (World Champion), Ilia Kulik (Olympic Champion), Michael Weiss (two-time World Bronze Medalist), and many more! Of course our journey to Spokane wouldn't be complete without dinner at Anthony's Homeport Restaurant where we'll enjoy a delicious dinner while overlooking the Spokane Falls. Transportation will be by motorcoach. Fee includes transportation, dinner, and Stars on Ice ticket. (Times and fees are approximate due to Star's on Ice tickets and fees not confirmed at the time this was printed.) You may register in person at the Pasco Recreation Services office (525 S. 3rd), the Pasco Senior Center (1315 N. 7th Ave.) or on line at www.pasco-wa.gov. Seattle Mariners vs. Los Angeles Angels - Don't miss this exciting match up at Safeco Field when the Seattle Mariner's face the Los Angeles Angels! You will depart from Pasco City Hall at 10:00 a.m. aboard A&A MotorCoach. Once in Seattle, you'll be dropped off right at "The Safe". The game begins at 3:40 p.m. We have purchased a group of tickets in the 100 level! Experience all of the excitement and special pre-game festivities that only happen on opening day! Hurry and register today; these tickets will go fast! We will stop for dinner on the way home (not included in ticket price). Date: Tuesday, April 14, 2009 Time: Departure is at 10:00 a.m. (please check in at 9:45 a.m.). Anticipated return time is approximately 11:30 p.m. Location: Pasco City Hall Parking Lot (525 N. 3rd, Parking lot located behind City Hall, Sylvester & 3rd) Ages: Adults Fee: $79*/$84 (fee includes ticket, bus, and parking).
