STAFF REPORTS
Recreation
• Scholarship Program
1. The board firmly supported keeping a scholarship program.
2. They would like to see it promoted, in our marketing materials.
3. Think we should seek funds from some "key"businesses in Pasco with a nicely
phrased letter.
4. Do not want to see this program cut.
5. Would like us to ask council for funds and to make it a line item in Recreations
budget instead of coming off the top.
• Grand Old 4th Parade Marshals suggestions for 2010.
1. They were given a list of possible marshals and asked to review before the next
meeting with any suggestions.
• Discussion of Beer Garden at Softball Complex
1. Supported a Beer Garden at Adult Events being vended through a Civic
Organization such as Kiwanis or Jaycees. Proceeds could be split.
• Update on new Vending contract
1. Notified that Coca-Cola was selected as our new vending contract.
2. New scoreboards will be going in at Softball Complex, City Hall Gym, and Highland
Fields.
• Annual Regional Park Board Meeting
1. 2009 was Pasco's turn to host the regional meeting however, with staff changes,
etc...most of us were unaware. Carleen spoke with Richland and Kennewick and
they would like to see Pasco take on 2010 to keep it in order since we missed 2009.
• Volunteer Reception April 22"d
• Pool Grand Opening—Date set for June 19th and we would like Park Board to be
involved.
• Question was asked if we had ever had a youth or teen member on our board.
1. Response was no, but everyone thought it might be a good idea. Possible work with
the High Schools for a connection?
