Recreation
Paul provided copies of the spring program brochure for recreation. He briefly reviewed old park plans
that he found in his office while cleaning out things prior to his retirement on March 20. It was
interesting to note that in the 60's the Park Board had recommended the construction of an indoor
swimming pool, the estimated cost of which was just over$100,000.
Maintenance
Dan reviewed park maintenance activities, including the construction of the concrete foundation for the
new pavilion at Volunteer Park.
Sacajawea Heritage Trail Adventure Challenge
Stan reviewed activities, informing the Advisory Council that the Sacajawea Heritage Trail Adventure
Challenge (2"d year) is tentatively scheduled to be conducted on Saturday, September 12. It is expected
that this year there will be better weather than last year's unusually cold Saturday, September 20, and the
staff of the three cities are seeking sponsors and participants for the event.
OLD BUSINESS
Memorial Pool
Planning continues for the Memorial Pool remodel with staff looking at alternatives for chlorination and
pool site planning
Volunteer Reception

the April meeting. Also, all members of the Board are invited to attend a reception for Paul on his
retirement on the afternoon of Friday,March 20, at the Senior Center. Invitations will be sent.
Stan briefly reviewed concerns over the economic situation and how city budgets might be affected. Staff
is monitoring the situation closely and delaying some spending for the time being pending further
analysis.
