MEETING OF APRIL 3, 2008
Larry Smith filled in as Chairperson and called the regular meeting of the Code Enforcement
Board to order at 7:00 p.m.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Mary Gutierrez made a motion to accept the minutes of March 6,
2008 as mailed. Lisa Gemig seconded, motion carried unanimously.
DETERMINATION HEARINGS
A. Dismissals
Lisa Gemig made a motion to accept Resolution No. 2008-04. Mary Gutierrez seconded, motion
carried unanimously.
COMPLIANCE HEARINGS:
(1) City of Pasco vs. SHRI MAHALAXMIL LLC (CEB2007-0984)

Violation: Fire extinguishers are not charged and have no current tag. Extreme unsafe,
unsanitary, dilapidated conditions inside this motel (both buildings). Broken windows.
Broken faucets in some rooms. Broken cabinets in most rooms. Some of the rooms
have holes in walls. Exposed wiring and broken outlet covers.No working smoke
detectors in. Excess amounts of mold in units. Fans for ventilation don't work.
Refrigerators and stoves are unsanitary. Stoves and fans have exposed wiring and are a
major safety issue. Some heat sources did not work. Some panel boxes not marked.
Peeling, chipped,unsanitary paint in rooms and on the outside of this building. Dirty
unsanitary carpet in most rooms. Carpet on decks are ripped and a tripping hazard. No
rental licenses for the monthly rental units at this location. No permit for the electrical
signs at this location and on the restaurant. Faulty, exposed wiring on these sins. Dog
feces in quantity in parking lot and on the east side of the building facing N 4` Ave.
CODE BOARD DECISION: Board ordered SHRI MAHALAXMIL LLC secure the
premises from illegal entry and maintains property to meet City standards within Ten
(10) days. Any and all work on the property is to be accompanied by permits as
required, and all work is to be done during daylight hours. The property owners shall
comply with time limits specified by the State of Washington Department of Health
and Transient Accommodations to complete the repairs. The City of Pasco will be
notified and accompany on inspections scheduled by the property owner with the State
of Washington Department of Health and Transient Accommodations. The case against
the property through the City of Pasco will remain open until compliance has been
achieved and all agencies involved with this case are satisfied that the property meets
all of the required standards. Failure to comply with the State of Washington
Department of Health's recommendations will bring action by the City of Pasco.
(2) City of Pasco vs. BURRIS, ALAN L (ETAL) (CEB2007-0974)

Violation: Miscellaneous debris&household appliances. Dilapidated buildings and
fences. Junk vehicles being stored on this property. Auto parts. Weeds, leaf debris and
limb debris located on this entire property and bordering and encroaching upon the city
right of way.
CODE BOARD DECISION: Board ordered BURRIS, ALAN L (ETAL)pay an
immediate monetary service penalty of Fifty Dollars ($50)to reimburse the City for the
cost of personal service of the notice and abate all remaining violations within thirty
(30) days of the date of the order. Should BURRIS, ALAN L (ETAL) fail to correct
the violations within the time frame specified, a penalty of Fifty Dollars ($50) per day
will be imposed until the City establishes compliance.
OTHER BUSINESS:
The Code Enforcement Board Hearing for June 5, 2008 has been rescheduled to June 12, 2008.
There being no further business to come before the Code Enforcement Board, the meeting was
adjourned at 7:42 p.m.
