MINUTES
January 5, 2012

Dotta, Facilities Manager.
The meeting was called to order by Mike Mathews at 5:34 p.m.
Abigail Kidd moved to approve the minutes of the November 3, 2011 meeting. Edmon Daniels
seconded. Motion carried.
STAFF REPORTS
Recreation
Cable Bridge Run was a great success with 2560 in attendance, the highest numbers
ever!
Break with Santa had 150 people in attendance.
Youth basketball starting this week.
The new recreation guide came out in December with lots of new programs!
Gym floors were refinished at MLK Center and City Hall. Multipurpose room floor at the
senior center was sanded down and refinished as well.
Discussion on challenges at the senior center and asked for feedback on requiring
participants/attendees to have a membership card. The card would be free and our
database currently has the capabilities of doing this without any major work. Board was
supportive.

Pruned shrubs, cleaned beds, lifted tree canopies and removed arborvitae in front of
windows at Oregon Fire Station

Preformed 6 funerals; 5 burials and 1 cremations
Completed 3 pre‐need contracts and installed 7 headstones
Leaf removal
Special Events
Assisted Recreation with Cable Bridge Run
Contractor completed installation of water and sewer lines for Chiawana new restrooms
Director
Discussed standardizing the tree ordinance to keep the trimming, care, etc. of trees
similar in all three cities.
Will be meeting with Little League for new contract and Babe Ruth to ensure they are
complying with the terms and conditions of their contract.
Discussed possible pool fee increase to $4/$6 for 3 hour session. Board suggested
possible ½ session fee of $2/$3.
