ATTACHMENT(S): II. ACTION REQUESTED OF COUNCIL / STAFF RECOMMENDATIONS: MOTION: I move to select candidates __________, __________, __________, and __________ as the finalist candidates for the position of City Manager. III. FISCAL IMPACT: None at this stage beyond previously approved recruitment costs. Travel, lodging, and other expenses for finalist interviews will be incurred, consistent with Council direction and the City practices. IV. HISTORY AND FACTS BRIEF: The City Manager position became vacant in February 2025. The City engaged GMP Consultants to provide interim City Manager services, Dave Zabell has been serving in this capacity since February. The City Council subsequently selected GMP Consultants to assist in the search for the next City Manager. Recruitment efforts have since been underway. The recruitment generated strong interest with a highly qualified pool of candidates. GMP Consultants conducted an extensive search that included national advertising, direct outreach, and screening of candidates based on qualifications and alignment with City Council priorities. was consultants, the by A including screening, preliminary interviews completed. Council met in Executive Session on June 23, 2025, to review candidate materials and discuss qualifications. V. DISCUSSION: Page 2 of 5 Council is asked to select finalist candidates from the pool of qualified applicants and provide direction for the next phase of the recruitment process. This evening’s action will formally identify the finalists who will be invited to participate in final interviews, anticipated to take place later in July. Following Council’s selection, GMP Consultants will notify each finalist and begin coordinating interview logistics. Staff will support Council’s direction in planning any additional elements of the interview process, including potential community engagement or panel activities. As part of the finalist evaluation process, GMP will conduct comprehensive background checks, reference checks, and credential verifications for each finalist candidate that Council selects.
