CALL TO ORDER
City of Pasco Historic Preservation Commission was call to order by Chair Dan Stafford.
ROLL CALL
Commissioners Present: Marilynn Baker, Malin Bergstrom and Dan Stafford
Commissioners Excused: Devi Tate
Staff Present: C & ED Deputy Director Craig Raymond, Public Works CIP Manager Ryan
Mahaffey and Administrative Assistant II Carmen Patrick
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Commissioner Bergstrom made a motion to approve the meeting minutes from February 4, 2025.
Seconded by Commissioner Baker, motion passed unanimously.
Commissioner Bergstrom made a motion to approve the meeting minutes from February 21, 2025,
special meeting. Seconded by Commissioner Baker, motion passed unanimously.
UNFINSHIED BUSINESS
• 100-year Centennial for the first commercial mail delivery flight
Commissioner Bergstrom provided an update on the upcoming press release for the
centennial celebration. She announced that a press conference is scheduled for Monday,
April 7th, at 10:00 AM at the Aviation Museum to officially launch the centennial events.
Due to anticipated cold weather, additional events will be planned later in the year.
Commissioner Bergstrom emphasized ongoing outreach efforts to secure community
support and participation.
PUBLIC HEARINGS

WORSHOP
• Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center Renovation and Expansion
Ryan Mahaffey informed the commission that the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU)
has been signed by both the City Manager and the Director of the Department of
Archaeology and Historic Preservation (DAHP). He reported that Phase 1 demolition is set
to begin in the coming weeks, with Booth & Sons as the selected contractor.
Additionally, Ryan noted that one room will require a designated name, artwork, and
historical items. Commissioner Baker inquired whether the city had reached out to the tribe
for participation. Ryan confirmed that outreach was conducted; however, the city did not
receive a response.

OTHER BUSINESS
• Volunteer Park Train:
The commission discussed the desire to restore the train and explored potential outreach
opportunities to support this effort. They considered initiating a fundraising campaign to
finance improvements for the train as well as other train-related artifacts within the city.
Additionally, the commission discussed the need to identify an individual or organization to
oversee and preserve the city's train history.

Meeting was adjourned the meeting at 4:54 pm.
