HomeMy WebLinkAboutHPC Meeting Minutes 2024-03-050"06-4 ,gyp Pasco HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES City Hall - Council Chambers 525 North Third Avenue Pasco, Washington TUESDAY, MARCH 5, 2024 4:00 PM CALL TO ORDER City of Pasco Historic Preservation Commission was call to order by Chair Dan Stafford. ROLL CALL Commissioners Present: Dan Stafford, Marilynn Baker, and Malin Bergstrom, a quorum was declared. Commissioners Excused: Davi Tate and Darlene Sarte Staff Present: Community & Economic Development Director Jacob Gonzalez, Associate Planner Jeff Adams, CIP Project Manager Ryan Mehaffey and Carmen Patrick, Administrative Assistant I1 APPROVAL OF MINUTES Commissioner Baker moved to approve the Historic Preservation Commission Meeting minutes of February 6, 2024, Commissioner Bergstrom seconded, and the motion carried unanimously. UNFINISHED BUSINESS None PUBLIC HEARINGS None WORSHOP A. Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center Renovation and Expansion Ryan Mehaffey with the City of Pasco presented the renovation and expansion project for the center to the Commissioners. The fifty -year -old building has received periodic maintenance and limited updates. This planned renovation and expansion will. enhance the current facility to support continued services and delivery of additional services to the community in the future. Current status: Architects West has been hired to perform the community outreach and design of the facility. Outreach will include in person surveys of current users, open house for input from the community, website and Facebook information and survey and media spotlights. Based on the survey results the consultant will then begin a conceptual design of the building. Remarks/Comments from Commissioners: • Commissioners and group discussed who uses the center. • Possible scenarios for the center and preserving the history of the building. • Timeline and structural deficiencies. • Suggested names for Ryan Mehaffey to contact for reference. Pasco History Project from Ms. Erin Vosgien with Arcadia Publishing The Commission discussed the status and problem of putting this book together, the City does not want to be liable or misinformation or copy right infringement. The City will only be in support and discussed who should be named as author, person, or Commission. Discussed the commitment it would take and who to contact for needed information. OTHER BUSINESS A. Lewis Street Underpass Photo Documentation Project Staff presented a PowerPoint featuring contract legislation language, Council minutes, and original architectural drawings of the Lewis Street Underpass, along with many of the photos taken in conjunction with the Lewis Street Underpass closure/Lewis Street Overpass construction project. Disposition of the time -stamped end rails was also discussed. ADJOURNMENT Chair Stafford stated with no other business, I recommend a motion to adjourn. Commissioner Baker made the motion to adjourn the meeting, it was seconded by Commissioner Bergstrom, motion passed unanimously. Meeting adjourned at 5:36 pm.
