CALL TO ORDER: The meeting was called to order at 5:03pm DATE: July 25, 2023

APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
MOTION: Janis Hastings moved to approve the June 19, 2023, meeting minutes. Ericka Garcia seconded
the motion. Discussion. The motion carried 2-0.

Police:
Approval of the Entry Level Police Officer eligible list.
MOTION: Janis Hastings made a motion to approve the Entry Level Police Officer eligible list. Ericka
Garcia seconded the motion. Discussion. Carried: 2-0
• Approval of the Lateral Police Officer eligible list.
MOTION: Janis Hastings made a motion to approve the Lateral Police Officer eligible list. Ericka Garcia
seconded the motion. Discussion. Carried: 2-0
Fire:
• Approval of the Department Assistant II - Fire eligible list.
MOTION: Janis Hastings made a motion to approve the Department Assistant II - Fire eligible list. Ericka
Garcia seconded the motion. Discussion. Carried: 2-0
OTHER BUSINESS:
Clarification on Rule #10.06 - "Appointment of Eligibles"
o There was discussion by the Commission, with information provided by Lieutenant
Groom, related to the clarification of Rule #10.06 and the interpretation of what the term
"vacancy" means. The Commission concluded that a memorandum would be sent to the
Chief describing that the department could complete a pre -offer suitability assessment
(SAR) on more than the top 5 candidates on an approved eligibility list.
• Commissioner status — Josee Saldua-Potvin
o The Commission was updated that there were 3 candidates that had applied for the vacant
position and interviews would be held.
ADJOURNMENT: There was no other business to come before the Commission. The meeting was
adjourned at 6:14pm. The next scheduled meeting is Monday, August 21, 2023, at 5:15 pm.
