CALL TO ORDER: The meeting was called to order at 5:17pm

APPROVAL OF MINUTES:

MOTION: Janis Hastings moved to approve the April 24, 2023, meeting minutes. Ericka Garcia seconded
the motion. Discussion. The motion carried 2-0.
OLD BUSINESS:
■ Rule 8.11 clarification: when can an applicant be made aware of their scores
There was discussion regarding when candidates can be made aware of their scores. Historically candidates
were not notified of their scores until after the eligible list of candidates was approved by the Commission at
their next meeting. The Commission clarified this rule and provided guidance on this matter. Out of
courtesy to the candidates, the Commission has provided guidance that the candidates can be made aware of
their scores upon calculation of the candidates scores. It stands that the 3-day review period, as outlined in
Rule 8.12, shall begin once the candidates are provided their scores. All eligible lists and scores shall only be
finalized upon Commission approval.

MOTION: Janis Hastings made a motion to approve the Entry Level Police Officer eligible list. Ericka

Fire:
■ Approval of the Fire Logistics Coordinator eligible list
MOTION: Janis Hastings made a motion to approve the Fire Logistics Coordinator eligible list. Ericka
Garcia seconded the motion. Discussion. Carried: 2-0
• Approval of the Fire Lieutenant eligible list
MOTION: Janis Hastings made a motion to approve the Fire Lieutenant eligible list. Ericka Garcia
seconded the motion. Discussion. Carried: 2-0

MOTION: Janis Hastings made a motion to approve the Fire Battalion Chief eligible list. Ericka Garcia

OTHER BUSINESS.
■ Discussion regarding Rule 9.05 — duration of eligible list
Discussion on this matter regarding the Fire promotional examinations as currently outlined in the IAFF
Collective Bargaining Agreement that we will conduct promotional testing annually for all three levels
(Lieutenant, Captain, and Battalion Chief). The Commission found no issue with extending an eligible list
per Rule 9.05 for these levels and only conducting promotional examinations every other year or as needed.
• What can be released under Rule 8.12 — Public Safety Testing materials as an example
Discussion regarding what information and scoring can be released to candidates from the Public Safety
Testing promotional examinations. The Commission agreed that under Rule 8.12 the candidates can be
provided the opportunity to review their overall coaching comments as well as their individual scores in each
section of the examination, but would not be provided score sheets outlining scores and comments from each
individual assessor.
ADJOURNMENT: There was no other business to come before the Commission. The meeting was
adjourned at 6:08 pm. The next scheduled meeting is Monday, July 17, 2023, at 5:15 pm.
