JANUARY 2024
The Pasco Code Enforcement Board will
conduct the Determination Hearing on
January 4, 2024 at 7:00p.m.
in Pasco City Council Chambers.
The City of Pasco Code Division strives to gain voluntary compliance through communication, outreach and
education.
Voluntary Compliance Agreements are used to provide up to 90 days for compliance with certain codes and
situations. This may include issues such as landscaping and cases entailing corrective action which is large
scale/high cost, with the understanding the property will be maintained free of any other code violations
during the agreement period.
December 2023 proved to be a busy end of the year for staff.
Code Officers visited Steven’s Middle School during conferences to meet with parents and students about
the Rental Licensing & Inspection program, common code violations in residential areas and provide
educational handouts.
In early December, staff vacated 26 units in a downtown apartment building due to a fire and unsafe
conditions in the remainder of the structure. The Building Official worked with apartment management and
the contractor to bring the units back to minimum habitability standards. All units, except those affected by
the fire, were repaired and able to be occupied in time for the holidays.
The recent election and resignation of a seated council member, resulted in four new council
representatives. Several of the new members spent time learning about the services provided by the
Inspection Services Department and were informed of construction projects in process and on the horizon
for Pasco.
Staff attended a training session focusing on managing relationships, exploring key skills to manage
conflicts and finding the best ways to plan for better outcomes.
January brings staff focus to closing out open issues, rental license renewals and refreshing our operating
policies and procedures.
We are looking forward to a productive year in 2024.
