She welcomed Patrick Hicks the new Parks Manager to the meeting. ROLL CALL Board Members Present: Steven Gruenberg, Alex Thornton, John Morgan, Bradyn Leyde, and Kate Bonderman Board Members Absent: Mark Middleton and Nolvia Salinas City Council Representative Present: David Milne City Staff Present: Dan Dotta, Brent Kubalek, Patrick Hicks, Zach Ratkai, and Ally Garza APPROVAL OF MINUTES Approve the January 5, 2023, Parks & Recreation Advisory Board Meeting Minutes MOTION: Ms. Bonderman moved to approve the minutes from the January 5, 2023, Parks & Recreation Advisory Board meeting. Mr. Leyde seconded. Motion carried unanimously COUNCIL REPRESENTATIVE & BOARD MEMBER REPORTS Mr. Leyde mentioned that the AAU basketball season had ended was happy to see there was more gym space is available for use. Mr. Gruenberg asked if the City Council has named Madison Park Mr. Ratkai stated that the names were being presented to City Council on March 20th. Page 1 of 3 STAFF REPORTS Mr. Kubalek reported the following topics related to the Recreation Division. • Big Cross Frozen Tundra Run • Spring Pasco Recreation Runners & Youth XC League • Pasco History Tour Challenge • Preschool Programs • Youth & Adult Basketball have finished • Senior Center held a Valentines Day Bingo Event and they are provided Enhance Fitness opportunity averaging 28 attendees per month. • Field Rentals • Soccer Fields • Awarded the Musco/NRPA Youth Sports Equity & Sports Field Lightning Grant Mr. Hicks reported on the following topics related to the Parks & Facilities Division. • A 5th zone was added to the Parks Department • Hiring a new Groundman and promoted another Groundman • Remodel of Kurtzman Park/ADA accessibility • Continuous City Wide Clean Up • Burns Road & Chiawana Park • Butterfield Water Plant Treatment Plant Landscape Project including pruning and rock • Cleared Burden Boulevard after the windstorm • Irrigation and growing season • Pre-emergent applications • PW Wastewater Treatment Plant • Softball and lacrosse season field prep • Cemetery west lot irrigation system install • Park shelter roof repair • Arbor Day Event scheduled for April 12th at 10:00 a.m. at Kurtzman Park Mr. Ratkai reported on the following topics; • Master Plan for Parks & Rec Update • Pool Bubble Update • New Parks in the Broadmoor Area • Monthly meeting with the US Army Corps of Engineers • Bids for the Pool Bubble (all year round swimming options and partnering with Pasco School District & Channel cats • Update to the adjacent park next to Peanuts Park • Artificial Turf at Softball Complex Page 2 of 3 • Burden soccer fields will have a championship field in the future • Artificial turf will be added to the Burden soccer fields to reduce maintenance Mr. Morgan asked if staff had researched the artificial fields and Mr. Kubalek said yes. Mr. Morgan complimented staff on how well the Sun Willows Gold Course was being managed. MISCELLANEOUS DISCUSSION Mr. Ratkai reminded everyone the next PRAB meeting is scheduled for Thursday, May 11, 2023.
