HomeMy WebLinkAbout2023.03.09 PRAB PowerpointParks & Recreation Advisory Board Meeting Recreation Report PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS •Big Cross Frozen Tundra Run •3rd year of the event –95 Participants •Spring PR Runners –Youth XC League •Practices Started Monday 3/6 –85 participants (Up 13 from 2022) •Pasco History Tour Challenge (Parks in and around Pasco) •Register Now –Begin logging miles anytime after April 1 •Virtually complete a 43.5 miles course that takes you in and around Pasco passing by and through many of Pasco’s Parks. •Receive emails at check points that will teach you some of the history of specific parks along the way •Receive a unique medal once you’ve completed the challenge! Recreation Report PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS •Preschool Programs •Little Dribblers Basketball -Full •Started Preschool Drop-in Playtime –First two have been well attended. •Toddler Short Sports –Three March Sessions are Full •Kickin’ it Soccer –Two March Sessions are Full •Basketball •Youth Basketball and Adult Basketball Leagues are done. •Started Women’s Adult League –Currently in playoffs (6 teams) First time in 5 years. •Seniors •Held Valentines Day Bingo event at First Avenue Center •Enhance Fitness –Averaging 28 per month Recreation Report •Field Rentals •Softball Complex – •Pasco High School began practice 2/27 •First Tournament will take place this weekend 3/11 –3/12 •Tournaments scheduled for most weekends October •Highland Park •Chiawana Lacrosse began use on 2/27 •Soccer Fields •Have begun entering into use agreements with various Youth and Adult Soccer Leagues (Use begins April 22) OTHER UPDATES •Selected to as a recipient for the Musco/NRPA Youth Sports Equity Grant •$20,000 to conduct a youth sports equity assessment •Up to $100,000 in-kind donation from Musco Sports Lighting toward installation of LED Field Sports Lights (2024). Parks Report Parks Update Intro: Patrick Hicks –Parks Manager •5th Zone added to the Parks Department •Groundsman 3 hired and a Groundsman 1 was promoted to a Groundsman 2. •In the process of hiring two Groundsman 1's Parks Report Projects ◦Kurtzman Park CXT New Bathroom Project = ADA accessible sidewalks from street side and Gazebo Parks Report Projects Continuous City Wide Clean Up = Burns Rd pathway and Chiawana Park Parks Report Projects ◦Butterfield Water Treatment Plant Arb Project (Security Concerns) ◦Landscape pruning and replace bark with rock. Parks Report Projects ◦Base Anchor replacement at the softball complex ◦Tree Pruning along the Boulevards ◦Pruning of landscape beds along Sandifur and other City maintained properties. ◦Stump Grinding through out parks and Landscape strips ◦Branch Clean up from wind storms.
