Erica Garcia seconded the motion. Discussion. The motion carried 2-0. OLD BUSINESS:
MOTION: Janis Hastings made a motion to change the character of the examination for Entry Level and Lateral Police Officer processes in accordance with Rule 8.04 – Character of Examination. Erica Garcia seconded, motion carried 2-0. NEW BUSINESS: Fire: None Police:

Temporary appointment of Police Sergeant DISCUSSION: The Commission requests that the Police Chief amend the Personnel Order #P-08-2022 to include an end date of 12/12/2022 in accordance with the Rule 12.01 Temporary Appointments. Suggested language: “According to the Rule 12.01 of the Civil Service Rules, the appointment can only last for 6 months, and will conclude when the other Police Sergeant returns to full duty or on December 12th, whichever is sooner.”

In accordance with Rule 8.15, two (2) promotional Fire Lieutenant candidates protests of the rating standards (Todd Pyper, Brandon Wertman) and a request of information (Juan Sanchez). These individuals have now submitted official appeals to the Commission, we need to discuss that there will be a hearing in accordance with Rule 5 at a later date. DISCUSSION: There was discussion with the Commission regarding the next steps in the process to coordinate an appeal hearing. Colleen Chapin advised the Commission that we would seek guidance from the City Attorney, Eric Ferguson, and will provide an update at the next meeting. The Commission mentioned that the best day of the week for the hearing to occur would be on a Wednesday. ADJOURNMENT: There was no other business to come before the Commission. The meeting was adjourned at 6:14 pm. The next scheduled meeting is Monday, August 15, 2022, at 5:15 pm.
