HomeMy WebLinkAbout2022.11.21 CSC Meeting MinutesMINUTES CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION PERSONNEL - FIRE – POLICE CALL TO ORDER: The meeting was called to order at 5:21pm DATE: November 21, 2022 ROLL CALL: Members present were: Janis Hastings, Ericka Garcia, Josee Saldua-Potvin Members absent: Staff: Colleen Chapin, Delaney Tucker APPROVAL OF MINUTES: MOTION: Janis Hastings moved to approve the October 17, 2022, meeting minutes. Ericka Garcia seconded the motion. Discussion. The motion carried 3-0. OLD BUSINESS:  Report of hearing back to the Commission; in accordance with Rule 8.15, two (2) promotional Fire Lieutenant candidates protest of the rating standards (Todd Pyper, Brandon Wertman). o Colleen provided a brief overview of the hearing and explained that we had not yet received ack the report from the Examiner Pro-Tem, Jenny Johnson, who had presided over the hearing. Delaney described that the final report from Jenny Johnson will be shared with the Commission at the next meeting. NEW BUSINESS: Police:  Approval of the Entry Level Police Officer eligible list o There was discussion surrounding the length of the list that now stands with 53 names on it. The Commission would like to hear from the Police department regarding how the new hiring process is going. MOTION: Josee Saldua-Potvin made a motion to approve the Entry Level Police Officer eligible list. Janis Hastings seconded the motion. Discussion. Carried: 3-0  Approval of the Police Sergeant eligible list o Delaney presented how this process was conducted through Public Safety Testing (PST) and our satisfaction with the process and how we would like to continue using PST in the future for promotional testing. MOTION: Janis Hastings made a motion to approve the Police Sergeant eligible list. Josee Saldua-Potvin seconded the motion. Discussion. Carried: 3-0  Approval of Police Lieutenant eligible list o Delaney presented how this process was conducted through Public Safety Testing (PST) and our satisfaction with the process and how we would like to continue using PST in the future for promotional testing. MOTION: Janis Hastings made a motion to approve the Police Sergeant eligible list. Josee Saldua-Potvin seconded the motion. Discussion. Carried: 3-0 OTHER BUSINESS:  Information provided to the Commission related to a candidate’s response to the Commission not approving the Lateral Eligibility List in the September meeting. E-mail communication between Colleen Chapin, Chief Examiner, and candidate Carson Roske is provided as attachment to the agenda. E-mail communications provided are dated October 3, 5, 10 and November 16. ADJOURNMENT: There was no other business to come before the Commission. The meeting was adjourned at 6:08 pm. The next scheduled meeting is Monday, December 12, 2022, at 5:15 pm.
