Ericka Garcia seconded the motion. Discussion. The motion carried 3-0. OLD BUSINESS: NEW BUSINESS: Police:
Approval of the Entry Level Police Officer eligible list MOTION: Janis Hastings made a motion to approve the Entry Level Police Officer eligible list. Ericka Garcia seconded the motion. Discussion. Carried: 2-0 OTHER BUSINESS:
In accordance with Rule 8.15, two (2) promotional Fire Lieutenant candidates protested the rating standards (Todd Pyper, Brandon Wertman). These individuals have submitted official appeals to the Commission and the Commission has ruled they do not feel comfortable hearing these appeals based on Ex-Parte communication that occurred on the June 21, 2022 meeting regarding the appeals. o Request to the Commission to temporarily appoint Jenny Johnson as Examiner Pro-Tem to make a ruling on the two appeals and preside over the hearing. MOTION: Janis Hastings made a motion to approve the temporary appointment of Jenny Johnson to oversee the hearing and rule on these matters. Ericka Garcia seconded the motion. Discussion. Carried: 2-0
Information provided to the Commission related to a candidate’s response to the Commission not approving the Lateral Eligibility List in the September meeting. E-mail communication between Colleen Chapin, Chief Examiner, and candidate Carson Roske is provided as attachment to the agenda. o The e-mail communication was provided to the Commission as informational, and Colleen will be at the November meeting to discuss further with the Commission if necessary.
Debrief from Civil Service Conference – Virtual September 20, 21, and 22. o Ericka attended and thought there were quite a lot of case studies presented. Civil Service is still important, but learned that there is an intersection with the union environment. ADJOURNMENT: There was no other business to come before the Commission. The meeting was adjourned at 5.38 pm.
