HomeMy WebLinkAbout2022.07.07 PRAB Minutes MINUTES Parks & Recreation Advisory Board 5:30 PM - Thursday, July 7, 2022 City Hall, Conference Room 5 & MS Teams Meeting CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order at 5:36 pm, by Julie Campos, Vice-Chair. ROLL CALL Boardmembers Present: Nolvia Salinas, Julie Campos, Edgar Delgado, Bradyn Leyde, Shane Arnott and David Milne (City Council Rep) Boardmembers Absent: Jason Ruud and Kate Bonderman City Staff Present: Dan Dotta (virtually) Brent Kubalek, Zach Ratkai. APPROVAL OF MINUTES MOTION: Bradyn Leyde moved to approve the minutes from the May 12, 2022 Special Meeting & May 5, 2022 meeting. Second by Julie Campos. The motion passed unanimously. COUNCIL REP & BOARDMEMBER REPORTS STAFF REPORTS Recreation • Adult Drop-In Volleyball • Youth & Adult Softball Leagues • Seek Summer Camps & Trips • Memorial Weekend Swim • Channel Cats Regional Swim Meet • Volunteer Thank You BBQ • Grand Old 4th of July • Movies and Music in the Park • Sylvester Park Soccer Mini-Pitch Project Page 1 of 3 • A Street Sports Complex Parks & Facilities • Cleared brush at Riverview Park • Installed two new irrigation pickup screens for Chiawana Park • Kurtzman Park upgrades • Hired 2 new Groundmen • Schlagel Park Boat Launch Bid • Park Restrooms are getting heavily vandalized (Memorial & Sylvester Park) • Remodeled Public Works Office • Remodeled Fire Station 81 weight room • Animal Control Building Items A&CS Director • Working with the Finance department to set up our Parks & Recreation Capital Improvement Plan • Pasco Police Department working on clearing our parks at night • Working with FEMA to help fund the Dock B replacement project • The new Animal Shelter will break ground this fall • Request for Proposal for the Animal Shelter is due August 5, 2022 • New HVAC system at the Animal Shelter NEW BUSINESS All Tri-Cities Area Park Boards Joint Meeting - Date & Location Discussion • The PRAB tour date is scheduled for September 8, 2022 MISCELLANEOUS DISCUSSION Park Board Members Feedback • Julie Campos asked what were other cities were doing to prevent vandalism in parks and if having more Police presence & park rangers would help reduce vandalism • Nolvia Salinas suggested having more events in downtown Pasco.
